The Committee of Young Deaf Italians CGSI, formed May 14, 1994 in Valle D'Aosta, under the auspices of the National Deaf (ENS) - NPO, operates with absolute criteria apartiticità and nondenominational and non-profit-making entity.
It draws on the principles of democracy, pluralism, rights of the disabled and minorities recognized by the Italian laws and European directives, and from the documents and recommendations of the United Nations, UNESCO, ILO and WHO.
The CGSI is a committee that is part of the National Deaf with which it shares the objectives, primarily the removal of barriers to communication. The objectives of CGSI are:
- Full autonomy of young deaf Italians;
- Integration in the social, cultural, education and political orientation;
- Recognition of equal dignity and respect for rights for deaf people;
- Promotion of the identity of deaf people;
- Recognition of Italian Sign Language;
- Access to information, training and active citizenship.
To achieve such as:
• Organize cultural, educational and informative for young deaf people under 30 years of age.
• Represents and highlights the moral interests of young deaf Italian
• Promotes the image of the young deaf;
• Promotes political and socio-cultural initiatives at national and international
• Promotes growth, full independence, inclusive education, vocational, occupational, and social integration of deaf;
• Coordination with young deaf Italians Committees at provincial, regional and international (Eudy and WFDY);
• Protects and enhances the identity of deafness, sign language and bilingualism.
CGSI Philosophy: The CGSI enhances the innate ability of the individual seeking the integral development of deaf people.
Strives to promote conditions so that young people can be deaf persons and protagonists of their own future.
